Matthew Clarke (born December 18, 1980 in Leeds) is a professional footballer who currently plays as a central defender or sometimes as a striker for Darlington on loan from Bradford City.

Matthew started his career as a trainee with Wolverhampton Wanderers but never made it to the first team before signing for Halifax Town in 1999. He played 77 times and scored 2 times for Halifax Town before signing for Darlington in 2002.

He signed for Bradford City in 2006 after playing 184 times and scoring 13 times for Darlington.

Bradford City defender Matt Clarke is set to rejoin former club Darlington on a month's loan after an injury-plagued start to his Bantams career. The 25-year-old has managed just one game since signing from the Quakers in the summer because of injury.
