Matthew Blakiston

Sir Matthew Blakiston, 1st Baronet (c. 1702 – 14 July 1774) was a British grocer and the 442nd Lord Mayor of London.
The son of George Blakiston and Elizabeth Kay, he was an Alderman of London from 1750 to 1769. Between 1753 and 1754, he was Sheriff of London and between 1760 and 1761 Lord Mayor of London. Knighted in Kensington in 1759, he was made a Baronet, of London on 22 April 1763. Blakiston served in the Green Regiment of the London Militia reaching the rank of Colonel. He died in Jermyn Street in London.
Blakiston has married three times, firstly Margaret Hall, daughter of Reverend Charles Hall, and thirdly Annabella Bayley, daughter of Thomas Bayley in St John's, London on 8 April 1760. He had a son by his first wife and two sons, including his heir Matthew Blakiston.
