[edit] Playing career

He was drafted by Buffalo 83rd overall in the fourth round in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.

Barnaby is considered a pest. Therefore, he racks up penalty minutes (his personal record is 335 with the 1995-96 Sabres), and is frequently involved in on-ice altercations. One of his most celebrated fights was with Rob Ray in the 1999 season; the two are off-ice friends and had had dinner together the night before. Barnaby is known for his affable character off-ice and is one of the league's most willing interviewees. Attended Philemon Wright High School in Hull, Quebec.

He was infamously referred to by then-New Jersey Devils defenseman Lyle Odelein as "Cornelius", a reference to the Roddy McDowall character in Planet of the Apes.

In the off season Barnaby lives in Buffalo, NY where he and former Sabre teammate Rob Ray own a construction company.

[edit] Awards and achievements

Barnaby recorded his 300th career point on December 23, 2006 against Edmonton. Barnaby earned an assist on Jon Klemm's first-period goal.
