Matt Saltz

Matt Saltz was the first Montanan killed in Iraq in the Iraq War.

1st Lt. Edward Matthew Saltz, a 27-year-old from Bigfork was killed in Baghdad when an IED damaged his Humvee. Another U.S. soldier died along with Nasser, an Iraqi translator, two other American soldiers were injured.

Saltz's death made Montana the last state to record a combat death in Iraq, according to the Associated Press.
