Matt Pinfield is an American radio and TV host and a former VJ on the American MTV during the mid 1990s, and hosted the alternative music show 120 Minutes. He was known for his shaved head and his seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of bands and music.

Early in his career, he was an on-air host and later Program Director at WRSU-FM, the official radio station of Rutgers University. He was a radio DJ on a Jersey shore alternative rock radio station (FM 106.3), and was the main DJ at a New Brunswick, NJ club called, "The Melody."

Matt was a local legend in the Central Jersey area, singing in hard-rock bands anonymously as the lead singer of Opium Vala (although his favorite vocal was a faithful cover of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman"). He jammed frequently in the early 80's with Leather Studded Diaphragm drummer Ethan Stein, who later committed suicide by jumping from a Rutgers dormitory high-rise.

Matt was known as an eccentric who always found the spotlight. During his ten years as a DJ, Music Director, and Program Director at WHTG, an Eatontown NJ indie rock station, he gained some notoriety by posing in a mock-up of the album cover of Nirvana's "Nevermind" album using his shaved head in a parody of the baby in the pool on that album cover.

He used to host WXRK's The Buzz, debuting music from new non-mainstream rock bands, such as Kaiser Chiefs' "I Predict a Riot" and Elefant's "Misfit". He was also featured on several albums, including speaking as himself on a secret track on Limp Bizkit's "Significant Other" album, in which he uses his trademark "in your face" style to berate the music industry in general and suggest that the industry needs "something with balls", "something like Limp Bizkit".

In 1999, Matt played a co-host to the music industry internet spawned project of Jimmy Iovine and David Geffen, Farmclub.com. He co-hosted with former Miss USA Ali Landry.

He currently hosts a radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio, entitled "Matt Pinfield Plays Whatever He Wants". This program can be heard the first Thursday of every month on Channel 26 Left of Center.

Pinfield returned to television as the host of VH1's VSpot Top 20 Countdown on Friday, April 7, 2006. He now hosts "Soundoff with Matt Pinfield" featured on HDNet, the largest high-def network in the country. The program is an in-depth interview program in the vein of "Larry King Live", with top recording artists and luminaries in various genres and eras. He also played in The Naked Brothers Band
