Matt Lukin (b. 1964) was a founding member and bassist for The Melvins. He recorded with the Melvins on the following - Mangeled Demos, Six Songs (later 10 Songs, later 26 songs)and Gluey Porch Treatments. In 1988 The Melvins "broke up" with Buzz moving to San Francisco, Dale staying in Aberdeen to help with the bands Nirvana and Really Soon. Matt was left behind and replaced by Lorax when Dale later joined Buzz in California. Matt Lukin stayed in Washington to form the band Mudhoney. Lukin left Mudhoney in June 1999. He briefly rejoined Mudhoney from December 2000 to January 2001 for a short tour. Matt Lukin is featured in a home video shot on Krist Novoselic's Super 8 camera -- the video includes Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and others (Matt Lukin included). Matt Lukin now works as a carpenter in the Seattle area.

The song "Lukin" by Pearl Jam was named after Matt Lukin.

Matt married a Dutch woman, Manon, whom he met in the Tivoli Club in Utrecht, The Netherlands. They have been together in Seattle ever since. Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder stated this before dedicating "Lukin" to the couple during Pearl Jam's performance on 29 August 2006 in De Gelredome, Arnhem. What he said can be heard on the Pearl Jam official bootleg of that same date on the song "Lukin."
