Matt Jones (Researcher/Musician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matt Jones is a leading researcher in the field of Aqueous Processing. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario in a family of four children. He is the second-oldest. As a native of Hamilton, he is a great supporter of the Tiger-Cats Canadian Football team from that city.
He is currently examining calcium sulfate solubility for use in mining applications at the University of Toronto. Prior to commencing this work he held a R&D position at INCO as a part of the Voisey's Bay Project.
However, Mr. Jones might be best known for his poorly received, self-titled, independent LP. Released in 1996, the album is seen by some as a victim of poor timing. It was laced with a more emotional brand of rock where grunge bands like Nirvana ruled the day. Fans believe that had the album been released now, with the interest in 'emo-rock' and independent bands, it would do far better. Others point to the infamous fourth track as a beacon of musical incompetence. The particular track is universally panned as a poorly produced, terribly arranged, over the top ballad.
The album was the only one ever released by Matt Jones. There was allegedly enough unreleased work for the beginnings of a second album, but the work was personally disposed of by Jones himself at his Nassau Street residence in Toronto after his dismal commercial failure.
After his exercise in music, Mr. Jones continued into attempting a professional StarCraft career. This particular interest was spawned by the computer game's popularity in Korea where competitors compete for a significant amount of prize money and sponsorships. His highest win totals came with the Protoss race. Although an above average player with a better than .500 record, he could not quite compete at the highest levels.
At this point, he resigned himself to his current profession.
