Matt DeVries (born January 28, 1977) is the rhythm guitarist in the popular alternative metal/metalcore band Chimaira. He, along with Rob Arnold (the lead guitarist) and Mark Hunter (the lead singer) writes a large number of the band's songs. Recently, Matt DeVries appeared on the Roadrunner United: The All Star Sessions album, playing on two of the tracks written by Joey Jordison - Annihilation at the Hands of God and Constitution Down. He also shares a last name with one of the most evil fictional villains of all time Piter De Vries of Dune. He is 5' 10".


He was in a Cleveland band called Acension, that frequently played the (now defunct)Euclid Tavern.
