Matt Cavotta

Matt Cavotta is an artist and writer. He draws and writes for Wizards of the Coast, specializing in Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons work. He currently writes a column for MagicTheGathering.com called "Taste the Magic".

Matt was raised in Moreland Hills, Ohio. He was educated at the Orange Schools in neighboring Pepper Pike, Ohio. He graduated from Orange High School in 1989. During high school, Matt was anything but mild-mannered. He received excellent grades, was a talented athlete participating in both track and football. Matt, often referred to as Confinter or some times just "Finter" was rarely caught purporting various misdeeds but let it no go un-noted that he was implicated in various forms of mischief. Among his devious accolades...well I better not mention them. But, it's a well established fact that although he's never been "collared," in his days of youth, Matt rarely walked the line of innocence.

Matt is the middle child with an older brother, Mike, and younger sister, Hailey. Together, they comprise the spawn of Mike "Finn" Cavotta, and Maureen Cavotta. It was rumored in high school that the Cavotta clan, being all so talented, were actually a new breed of human, Homo Inivatus - AKA "Innovative Man."

In his late high school days Matt discovered a talent for making music. He was involved in several rock bands, mostly within the hard-rock and heavy metal genre. He eventually teamed with percussionist Joshua Fant. Fant is noted for once being the paradigmatic "band-geek" in his high school days. However, Fant now sits a top a multi-million dollar real estate empire in Seattle, Washington, and is also the highly acclaimed drummer of west coast alt-rock band, Post Stardom Depression.

While at the Columbus College of Art & Design, Matt became more involved in music. To date, it is unknown whether he still contributes to the musical community.

Matt is married to Kylie (sp?) Iafretto (sp?) also from Orange High School. Together, they have successfully procreated twice. They reside in Seattle, Washington.
