Matt Cage

Matthew Ryan Hullum (born August 15, 1988 in Kansas City, Missouri), better known by his ring name Matt Cage, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently the reigning CWF World Champion. Wrestling primarily as a heel, Cage is currently portraying a face.

Matthew Hullum was born in Kansas City, Missouri, but shortly after his birth, he and his mother relocated to Kansas City, Kansas. Raised without a father, he went through his childhood with multiple babysitters both inside and outside of his family. It was during his childhood that his love for professional wrestling began. He often states that his earliest wrestling memory was a blond man collapsing to the blue ringside mats. The man was Ric Flair. At the age of seven, his mother began dating a man who would soon become his stepfather, and they all moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. After years of bouncing around from city to city in Texas, his mother divorced his stepfather, and they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in February 1999. After failing the eighth grade, Cage vowed that his one and only career path would be the only thing that kept him happy, and that was professional wrestling.

In July 2006, Cage gained a great deal of internet fame by cutting 4 "shoot promos" on an 18 year old, disgruntled wrestling fan named Kent Jones, and posting them on the popular YouTube site. Jones, a TNA fan, claimed that World Wrestling Entertainment actually stood for "Worst Wrestling Ever". Being a fan of WWE, Cage stood up for the company, and pointed out both positives and negatives of both TNA and WWE, before Jones replied by calling him a nigger on a radio show, hosted by NothingMedia.com. Cage declined the opportunity to appear on the same radio show a week later, instead opting to respond with another video. Cage replied to Jones. Jones has yet to reply. Multiple internet discussion boards praised Cage for his defense.

On August 4, 2005, Matt Cage made his debut with the Championship Wrestling Federation in Las Vegas, a small independent promotion. On the inaugural show, Cage was defeated by The Hen in a CWF World Title match. The second show held by CWF was dubbed "The Outdoor Epic" by some, and was highlighted by a match between Cage and friend turned foe, Ace in a contenders match, and the winner would face Hen. However, Cage lost to Ace after he was rendered unable to continue following an elbow drop. After the match, Cage brutally attacked Ace, taking him out of commission and he was unable to face The Hen for the title, so Cage took the spot. At this point, Cage released a scorching promo on the internet towards The Hen, claiming that even though he lost, he was still the "real" champion, and appeared with his own title. He guaranteed victory in their match as well. Hen replied, and the match garnered a lot of attention from the fans who had heard about it both on the internet, and in the city.

In September 2005, Cage and Hen had yet another match and Cage won the match, and seemingly won the title. Ace, seeking revenge, was dubbed the special referee, and shady officiating caused the victory to be overturned. The Hen/Cage rivalry went on for months, spanning multiple different matches in which Cage could not quite capture the title until finally, feud escalated and reached a boiling point and on February 8, 2006, when he finally captured the title in a 45 minute 2 out of 3 falls match, winning the final two falls. Afterwards, The Hen extended his hand and handed Cage the title. Seconds later, their alignments were immediately switched as Hen nailed Cage with the World Title, busting him open and turning himself heel, and enabling Cage to become a face for the first time.

On August 1, 2006, Cage successfully defended his CWF Title against former rival, Zach "Flamer" Johnson.

Matt Cage defended the CWF World Title successfully against nemesis, Ace, on March 28, 2007. Cage has reigned as CWF Champion for over a year, surpassing The Hen's record reign of 6 months.
