Larry Matthew "Matt" Brunson (Born: September 2, 1974 in Denver, Colorado) is a right handed throwing, switch-hitting minor league baseball player who was last seen playing for the Newark Bears of the independent Atlantic League in 2006 who attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Drafted 9th overall by the Detroit Tigers in 1993 and offered an $800,000 signing bonus, Brunson spent a few years in their organization before being traded to the Florida Marlins for Randy Veres on March 11, 1996.

The son of former NFL wide received Larry Brunson, Matt-who is 5'11", 180 pounds-is very speedy-in his first professional season with the Fayetteville Generals, he stole 50 bases in 102 games. Although power is not his forte, he has other skills that compensate for that-namely, a great eye at the plate. In 2005 with the Yuma Scorpions of the independent Golden Baseball League, for example, Brunson walked 67 times while striking out only 52 times. He also stole 32 bases that year in only 77 games.

Oddly, Brunson spent 9 years between North American professional baseball teams. This is because after playing in the Marlins organization in 1996, he was released and then went on to play college football for the University of Colorado. After that, he went on to play ball in Taiwan for a while.
