Matt Barnes plays, writes and produces records with Jann Browne. Since 1993 he began touring the world in support of Jann's critically acclaimed album Tell Me Why (Curb Records), which spawned two Top 10 country hits and a #1 video for 2 straight weeks on CMT.
After two years of touring in support of Tell Me Why and her second album, It Only Hurts When I Laugh, Matt and Jann were signed to the Roy Orbison publishing company, "Still Working Music" in Nashville, Tennessee, where they were staff writers. During this time, they wrote many songs, and had songs placed with artists like Duane Jarvis, Joy Lynn White, and Lee Ann Womack, to name a few. Matt's first RIAA Gold Record came with the Lee Ann Womack cut, which was track #8 on her self titled debut , Lee Ann Womack.
Matt's discography includes 4 CDs with Jann, 4 On The Floor ( a live CD recorded in Bern, Switzerland), Count Me In, Missed Me By A Mile and a tribute to Buck Owens, Buckin' Around. Matt and Jann continue to tour, record and produce in Matt's studio "The Barn" in Laguna Hills, California.
His musical roots harken back to Binghamton, New York in a band called Acts, with members Billy Davis, drummer Mike Ricciardi, Jeff Howell, Ron Emerick and Donny Wilkins.
