Matore is a beautiful village, surrounded by hills, in the heart of District Kahuta, Rawalpindi.

Population is approximately seven thousand. The climate is moderate and the land is Arid so crops depend upon rain. Matore has all the basic facilities including electricity, water and telephone, a Government High school (Boys & Girls) and a basic health unit. A secondary model school (Boys & Girls) and a hospital provided by Fauji Foundation Trust (Army Trust).

The main occupation of its residents is serving in Armed forces and government institutions. Minority works overseas and takes agriculture as a livlihood. Although, agriculture was the main occupation few years ago.

Historically, Matore was a diverse society. Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus lived together before partition of pakistan and India. Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India after the partition.

There are two main clans living in matore, Janjua Rajput and Sayyid Kazmi's.

Matore is famed by its people who have always been in Armed forces even before Mughal Empire, British Raj and now the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Matore formed part of the Kingdom of Kahuta ruled by the famous Janjua Sultan Ahmed Sani Janjua, also known by his pre Islamic name of Raja Kala.

His conquer of the region with the aid of his brothers Raja Jodh, Raja Bhir, Raja Khakha and Raja Tanwal (also known as Tanwali/Tanoli) in what was the campaign of conquer by the rising Janjua overlord, Raja Mal of the Janjua Rajput clan, in the early 13th century.

Raja Kala is known by his descendants by the warm title of Dada Pir Kala (the saintly father Kala), and his tomb is located at Matore, on a hill. The tomb is witness to an annual commemoration ceremony of the his descendants who still remember their ancestor and celebrate his courageous life and legacy to them.

- Shah Nawaz Khan (general)-Janjua, of INA, an Indian freedom fighter, politician and an army officer.

- Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq , Ex-Federal Minister, Ex-Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt, Chairman Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Secretary General World Muslim Congress since 1992.

- Lt. General (Retired) Ahmad Jamal Khan-Janjua.

- Lt. General (Retired) Ahmad Kamal Khan-Janjua - Former Deputy Chief of Army Staff.

- Major General (Retired) Saleem Arshad.

- Major General Khalid Nawaz Janjua.

- Amir Khan (boxer) - Janjua- Professional lightweight boxer, 2004 Olympic silver medalist- Although he himself is British born.

- Sajid Mahmood - Janjua- member of the Lancashire County Cricket Club and English Cricket Team- He also is British born and is cousin of Amir Khan.
