Mathieu Guidère

Since 2003 Dr. Guidère has been the director of the Strategic Information Analysis Unit at the Saint-Cyr Research Center, French Military Academy, FRANCE. Dealing with subjects related to ideologies and radicalization, his works has implications for Text Mining and Massive Data Processing in a multilingual perspective. Heads the Teknolang Research Group (www.teknolang.net), focusing on language models and codification to develop new approaches based on automatic in-depth discourse analysis. Leading researcher on Cognitive Linguistics and its applications to Defense and Security. Holds a Doctoral degree in Linguistics from THE SORBONNE, at University of Paris, FRANCE, and holds two Master’s Degrees as well in Arabic and Islamic Studies from THE SORBONNE. Ranked first at the French national examination of the prestigious “Agrégation” (Selective University Exam).

Dr. GUIDERE holds teaching positions at the French Military Academy (Saint-Cyr) and a tenure at the University of Lyon II. Teaches a graduate seminar on Middle East culture and security. Also Senior fellow at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (Washington D.C.). Authored several publications in the areas of translation, Arabic language processing and Islamic studies. Originator of the “Discourse Signature Model”, he obtained on June 2005 an “Accreditation to Supervise Research". He oversees and directs a number of educational programs and research projects including the Radicalization Watch Project (RWP), part of the National Data Exploration Capabilities (CADS). He is an active member of several research centers and he has directed leading international programs on human language processing and cyber discourse analysis.

Dr. GUIDERE research interests have focused on Arabic language in security documents and Jihadist websites, and he is currently working within an international network of professional experts. In November 2004, he hosted the 1st International Conference on “Strategic Languages and National Security”, which took place in the French Military Academy (Saint-Cyr Coetquidan, FRANCE). With interests in Islamic culture and conflicts, Mathieu GUIDERE has authored or co-authored more than 10 books as well as several book chapters or articles. Made more than 100 presentations, including training workshops and seminars on radical communication and terrorists’ discourse analysis.
