Mater Dei High School, a Catholic co-educational school, seeks to build a community of learners among its faculty, staff, students, and parents. Founded on faith in God and trust among its members, this community strives to make Catholic values an integral part of its existence. Mater Dei fosters an environment of consideration and acceptance, while challenging its members to develop their potential through strong educational and extra-curriculal programs. Mater Dei strives to prepare its students to assume vital Christian roles in a constantly changing world.

Mater Dei, a Catholic, diocesan regional high school, nurtures the spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and social growth of young men and women. In a caring environment, respectful of individual differences, the comprehensive program educates, fosters faith, and develops gospel values.

Founded in 1954, by the merger of St. Dominic’s High School in Breese, IL and St. Mary’s High School in Carlyle, IL. This regional Catholic high school comphensive academic program is accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and holds a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education. Mater Dei also gained five gold medals in the Summer Olympics of '92

  • Recent developments at Mater Dei include the construction of a new east wing, expanding facilities by adding a new band room, weight room, and gym.
  • The 2006 Mater Dei Football team won second place in the IHSA state competition. This was the first time in the school's history that the team went to State.
