[edit] BCAFL

Yea i used to play rugby for years and i went to Sunderland uni and on my first night at freshers i met the american football team and they were an awesome bunch of guys so i thought hell il give it a shot and i love it.

Im working for Easter Seals in there summer camp near Hebron/ Colchester in CT. I came out last year through camp america but i enjoyed it alot and the director said i could come back and get paid proper wages so i decided i had nothing to lose.

Good to see someone taking an interest in BCAFL as i would like to see the sport spread its fantastic and lots of fun.

[edit] My sincere apologies

I did word that last message poorly, my tone towards you was undeserved, and I apologize for it. I appreciate you being more civil in your response than I was. Sincerely, CollegeSportsGuy 18:53, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2004 National Invitation Tournament

Regarding the reasoning given for your revision to my edit in said article...

"While the Milwaukee usage is correct CURRENTLY, at the time, the team was commonly referred to as UW-Milwaukee... there pages refer to schools as they were called at the time (i.e.Texas Western/UTEP)"

...I'm afraid you are mistaken. Milwaukee started using only Milwaukee (or the abbreviation UWM) to refer to all their athletics teams around 1999. This included not only all team uniforms stating ONLY "MILWAUKEE" on them, but also all media guide references, press releases, etc. The school remained UW-Milwaukee, but its teams would now be known as the Milwaukee or UWM Panthers for all athletics references. Also, your comparison to a school that changed its institution's name shows a lack of understanding of this issue, as UWM did not change their school name, but only decided to drop the state university part of the name for athletics purposes, ala Charlotte, Chattanooga, etc. Those schools also did NOT change their names, yet even past references to their teams are now changed in most articles to reflect this. But please don't take my word for it, see for yourself. As previously stated, this "re-branding" by Milwaukee was done athletic department-wide, sometime around 1999, to coincide with the release of the university's new athletics logo, which minimized the words "University of Wisconsin" from the logo as much as possible. As long as the WP standard of using a school's unique, chosen athletics brand is applied to other school's in the same position as Milwaukee (Charlotte, Chattanooga, etc. etc. etc.) then all athletics references from at least after the year this change occurred should stand. I appreciate your understanding in this matter, and would be happy to further elaborate or point to specific sources if you need more assistance. Sincerely, CollegeSportsGuy 18:03, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Horizon League member logo

The Wright State logo you recently switched to here was of a lesser quality, so I reverted back to the better-looking one that's also ok to use (as far as I can tell). CollegeSportsGuy 20:16, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mid-major discussion

You might find the current revision of this page interesting...

Mid-major

I had no idea the WAC was a major conference, but the MWC was a mid-major. I've tried reasoning with this fellow here, but have since given up and moved all the non-BCS conferences that met his asinine, undeterminable definitions into the "Major" category, only to have him move several (but not other comparable conferences), including the MWC, back to mid-major. He's also received numerous notes and warnings for his editorial antics and at times, vandalism. Not to mention he's very poor at picking up on sarcasm ;)

Maybe it's time for an admin to act? CollegeSportsGuy 07:58, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your summary

Or rather, lack of it. Had you stated when you edited Leicester Lightning something like its name changed from Lemmings to Lightning in (whatever) year, it wouldn't have been reverted. Sometimes when on vandal patrol we get into these situations, but usually no harm is done because they are reverted by the original contributor -- and explained -- as happened in this case. Cheers. Moriori 21:09, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

In hindsight, I was a little harsh, I suppose. My fault for forgetting to throw a summary line in there. Consider this my 'mea culpa.' Thanks. Masonpatriot

No probs. As an aside, I was unaware that so many UK universities and colleges took part in an American football competition, and found that article interesting also. Cheers. Moriori 22:18, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Big East Conference

You may like to keep an eye on the above. User:Zoe is continually removing the gallery without discussion on the talk page. Regards. --84.64.33.15 08:44, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm aware. Thanks for the note, and hopefully User:Zoe's pigheadedness abates sometime in the near future. -- User:Masonpatriot

[edit] Member List

Hey there...just wanted to tell you I think the reformated members list looks great. Good job, looks much better than the simple list that was there. --ScottyBoy900Q 05:32, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I hope others like it too! --Masonpatriot

[edit] GMU

Since it looks like you may be one, perhaps you'd like to add this to your user page:

[edit] ECAC Hockey League

I like the gallery you made for the page, nice work. However, Colgate needs a new image grabbed (which I have no idea how to do) as they have changed from being the Red Raiders to just the Raiders. Cornell Rockey 22:17, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

I noticed you are on the category of "Deist wikipedians". That template has been deleted, but here is what you can put on your userpage:

[edit] List of Major League Baseball batting champions

Hey. There's no need to get quite so testy with your edit summaries like this. Instead, if it's going to take three or four days to get things like that in order, you might want to consider building in a sandbox page in your user area first. Create a User:Masonpatriot/List of Major League Baseball batting champions page and get it all up and going where no prying eyes will bother you. When it's all ready, copy it out into the public area. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance. —Wknight94 (talk) 17:36, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

No mending necessary. I just wanted to let you know about the concept of making sandbox pages since I've seen valid articles get deleted entirely because they were added to the public area too soon. Temporary user pages are easy to use and they save confusion and testiness!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 18:03, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] End box

Hi. Me again. First thing, I see you've been doing a great job adding succession boxes to baseball player articles! Just a quick note that any {{start box}} is supposed to have a corresponding {{end box}} after the {{succession box}}. They become the opening and closing for the succession HTML table. Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry to bug you again!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 19:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] nocat option

Dear friend - The nocat option is needed for three reasons:

  1. It allows us to include the userbox on the alma mater category page. Otherwise it creates a self-reference categorization which is not allowed.
  2. It allows us to include the userbox on the education page without making the education page a listing on hundreds of alma mater category pages.
  3. It allows people to include the userbox on other pages (including their user page) without including the page in the alma mater category.

Please leave it on the template. --NThurston 18:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
