[edit] Ultima Orion link

Umm... This site appears to be in German, with no discernable english version. Seeing as how this is the English Wikipedia, I have noted this beside the link, though perhaps this link should be removed? Shador5529 16:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Background Story

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the story go the other way around?

First the Antarans create harvester gamma, which wipes out most of them in the dimensional bubble. After the destruction of Kathar the Antarans on Orion become New Orion and form the senate, wiping out any opponents.

You're right. The Harvester Gamma parasite causes the mass extinction in the dimensinal bubble, cutting off contact with Antarans in charge of the Orion Sector. The Antarans in the Orion sector become the "New Orions" to protect themselves, not "in a fit of arrogance", as this article currently states. I'm going to make the following the changes in the next few days, unless someone thinks otherwise: In a fit of arrogance, they declare themselves the New Orions (as opposed to the true "Ancient Orions"). (This is unclear, the Antarans are NOT the Ancient Orions, they were once allies of the Ancient Orions and latter enemies). Anticipating rebellion, the New Orions grant the conquered territories a new Orion Senate, pretending enlightened leadership. (Only a select few of the conquered species are granted a seat in the new Orion Senate). Half a dozen races from the previous games challenge them, only to be beaten into extinction. (I'll dig out my MOO3 manual to check the number and insert names. Also, none of the species are "extinct", they're just defeated to point they pose no threat at all to the"New Orions). False rumors also abound about a Legitimate Heir to the Orion Throne. (Bad wording. These rumors have been among the Orion Sector species for a long long time, not just after the formation of the New Orions). Meanwhile, on Antares, the Antarans try to engineer a living weapon that will defeat the wayward New Orions; the virus-like parasites known as the Harvesters. They escape control, though, becoming a sentient, spacefaring race: the Ithkul, Harvester Gamma. (Completely and utterly wrong. Makes me wonder if the person who wrote this was delibrately sabataguing this article. First of all, there are many forms of the Harvester experiment. Two types we know of are Gamma and Zeta. Gamma is more deadly and the one that killed off the isolated Antaran empire, but the Gamma species is extinct. The less deadly form, Zeta, released "delibrately" by an Antaran scientist on a human colony. This was done to take revenge upon the New Orions (renegade Antarans now because they ignored the Antaran empire's last instructions). Also, over half the article write now is under the topic criticism. This article right now reeks of personal opinion. Whoever wrote this might not have played the game for a while, micromanagement IS there in MOO3, you can control everything every turn if you wish, however it's usually necessary to let the planetary viceroy (AI) do most things when the empire grows big. --Vivendi14 10:16, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moderate seller?

"Moderate seller, not the breakout hit of its predecessors"?!? Is there a verifiable link to this statement? From what I recall, MOO3 was already in the $19.99 bargain bin with 3 months of launching. Only such treasures as BattleCruiser 3000AD share this odious distinction. (And amazon.com sold it for months at $15 with a $15 rebate...)
