Vanity, non-notable --Bart133 21:50, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • It's currently an atrocious article, but Maserati is a well-known car manufacturer and we have many articles on individual car models. Keep and clean up. —No-One Jones (m) 21:54, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep, cleanup. --fvw* 11:19, 2004 Nov 27 (UTC)
  • Keep, cleanup, needs cleanup indeed. Kim Bruning 18:03, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep! This is not vanity. This is notable. This does need cleanup. VfD is not Cleanup! [[User:GRider|GRider\talk]] 18:53, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Power output

Car and Driver reported in June 2005 that the MC12 produced 624 SAE net horsepower. This equates to 465 kW or 633 PS. I know that this discussion is not yet settled in Talk:List of automotive superlatives, but I wanted to note that these numbers were reported in a reputable source. --SFoskett 00:02, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

Here, try this, it's the Ferrari/Maserati press website. --Pc13 12:23, 2005 Jun 9 (UTC)
Only registered users can access that site. Perhaps you can summarize the official word here? --SFoskett 14:34, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)
The Maserati web site says Maximum power 465 kW (630 CV) at 7500 rpm. I did not have to register to see that page. Bobblewik  (talk) 14:41, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Oh, bugger me! Sorry about that. I have access to most automakers' press sites and I just leave the passwords on automatic, so I forgot about the registering bit. --Pc13 18:47, 2005 Jun 9 (UTC)
The kilowatt value appears to be primary on the Maserati site. Should we have it primary here? Bobblewik  (talk) 09:24, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Roadster?

It is mentioned in the current article that 50 coupes and 25 possible roadsters are being produced. In my understading (based on various articles in the Topgear magazine and the Car magazine) only 50 coupes are being produced. The coupes are targa tops meaning that the roof panel comes off to change the car into a convertible.

[edit] Rewrite

I am recreating this article from scratch at User:James086/maserati, so if anyone is interesting in helping that would be great. Remember sources and try to keep the wording and format clear because this article is virtually unreadable.

I finished rewriting the article and have replaced the old one.James086 14:00, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
A lot of useful information regarding FIA GT participance seems missing - had to find it on [[1]]. And can you clarify the run on Dubai/2004? - from the referred table, I see that AF Corse won Zhuhai rather than Dubai. Honeyman 09:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
You are completely right, sorry, I must have misread the table. It was Zhuahai so I have changed it. That link was basically a mirror of an older revision of this article ([2]) which I found using the history. I didn't include that information because it was unsourced but if you can find sources for it go for it. I will look for some of the info aswell. [edit] Factual issues

Recently someone brought up some factual disputes about the article on my talk page, if anyone can confirm any of the info that would be great, I'm currently looking into it. I also took it down from Good article nomination because of this. The issues raised were:

  • The team racing in the Italian GT 2005 was only Racing Box
    • [3] Shows that there were 2 teams, with several drivers each. Playteam Sara Free had car number 12 and Racing Box had car number 1. Playteam Sara Free had 2 drivers, Racing Box had 3. Will look for other sources however
    • [4] only mentions racing box
    • [5] References only Racing Box.
  • There are 2 teams in the Italian GT for 2006; Racing Box and Scuderia Playteam
    • [6] says Playteam Sara Free and Racing Box, no mention of Scuderia. Will look for more
    • [7] References the "newcomers Scuderia Playteam" and other pages in the same domain constantly reference Playteam.
    • [8] references Scuderia Playteam.
    • [9] says there are 3 cars for Scuderia Playteam.
  • The car competed in 2 races in 2004, Dubai and Zhuhai, under the team AF Corse
  • The MC12 Corsa has carbon racing brakes, not carbon ceramic brakes

[edit] GA nomination PASS

Good job on this article!

I tried to make minor copyediting changes. Please check all my diffs carefully, as sometimes seemingly innocent changes in wording can change factual content.

  • I was surprised there was no article for "air scoop." You can remove the redlink if you like.
  • I tried to put in wikilinks wherever I saw words that are specific to the car industry. As a cleanup exercise, you may want to read the article slowly, word by word, and see if there are others that can be added.
  • I wasn't sure about "were also contested by"; did you mean "were in competition with"?
  • I wasn't sure which victory was being referred to in the lead, where it says "achieiving a victory" This could be clarified.
  • I wasn't sure about "The car is noted for its size and consequent obscurity.." this clause is ambiguous, since abscurity can have different meanings.
  • I also left a note about another point in the diffs; please check.

But these are all minor points. Excellent work! --Ling.Nut 14:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
