Route 53 is a state highway in Massachusetts. It follows the former route of the Kingston to Quincy section of Route 3 before that route became a freeway in the late 1950s−early 1960s.
From Kingston, Route 53 runs north through the following towns/cities:
In Pembroke, Route 53 is concurrent with Route 14 for 1.4 miles and as it crosses the Pembroke–Hanover line Route 53 is concurrent with Route 139 for 1.1 miles.
In Quincy, Route 53 ends as the Southern Artery intersects Washington Street and traffic continues north on the Southern Artery towards Dorchester along Route 3A.
