The masenqo or masenko is a spike-fiddle with one string, tuned with a large peg. The square- or diamond-shaped resonator is normally covered with parchment or rawhide. As with the krar, this is an instrument used by Ethiopian minstrels, or azmaris ("singer" in Amharic).
