Nakamura composed the music of the first two Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Sega Mega Drive. Most likely, his most famous and notable piece of work could be the Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog, as it lead to remixes and remakes of the song and stage in the games Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Advance 3. The Final Zone is also regarded as one of the most memorable boss fight songs from the Sega system.

Recently, Masato Nakamura has been in collaboration with US rapper Akon to produce a remix of "Sweet Sweet Sweet" for use in the upcoming game Sonic the Hedgehog[1][2].

He also played the part of Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy VIII
