Cytology of a mast cell tumor from a 13 year old Labrador Retriever. The cells are mast cells. Notice the purple granules that are present in the cells and in the background from ruptured mast cells. These granules contain histamine. Photo taken through a microscope at 100x by Joel Mills on January 23, 2006. The slide was stained with a modified Wright's stain.
