[edit] Image tagging for Image:180857038 bf4520beb8.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:180857038 bf4520beb8.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Emerald Toucanet2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Emerald Toucanet2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:AndyHug.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AndyHug.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Authorities go in the taxobox on the article page. A species list is just that, Eng and sci names, otherwise it gets cluttered with authorities, status, range, and other stuff better put in the article. jimfbleak 06:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Azem.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Azem.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 21:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image license for Kakapo2.jpg

Hi there. I see you have uploaded Image:Kakapo2.jpg. Perhaps you could link to the Flickr page of this image? You already linked directly to the JPEG on Flickr itself, but it's difficult to verify the license without the actual description page. If you could, that would be great. Thanks. function msikma(const U, T : Float) : Float { to my page. } ; 10:24, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, nevermind, I've cleared it up myself. As I thought, it really isn't something a Flickr user made, but it's an old illustration. function msikma(const U, T : Float) : Float { to my page. } ; 11:17, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Martial Arts Organization Removals

Hey, I happened to notice that a couple of articles had the 'Martial Arts Organization' element removed from them. I followed this removal back to you and, after looking at your recent edits, saw that you had removed quite a number of these. I'm just curious as to why these edits are being made. - William Desby 05:55, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

The 'Martial Arts Organization' element was also removed from the article on "The Association for Renaissance Martial Arts (ARMA)" without any valid reason given. In light of the fact that ARMA is a large martial arts organization with members throughout North America and Europe I have added the article back to that category. If you think there are valid reason for removing the article from that category please note those reasons in the discussion page where it can be evaluated. Ranp 15:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Answer to Mr. Desby

sorry, i should have left notes. I wasn't deleting anything I just moved them to move specific pre-existing sub-categories. Like Category:Aikido organizations, Category:Korean martial arts organizations, Category:Taekwondo organizations and etc.

Along similar lines, what's the objection to having Savate, described in the article's first line as French kickboxing, in the Kickboxing category? JJL 12:31, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

no objection. if you open up Category:Kickboxing, savate is there under Main articles. but it belongs to a more specific category under European martial arts. The reason i started this coz the categories were one big mess like fencing and karate and savate all in one big categories. look under Category:Martial arts by regional origin as well. my intentions were to put everything under more specific sub-categories. thx.

What subcategory did you place the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts in? The Jade Knight 10:32, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
