A RfA thank you from en:User:Xyrael

WikiThanks

I'd like to thank you Martinp23 for either supporting, opposing, commenting, nominating, reading, editing, promoting and/or anything else that you may have done for my successful request for adminship (I've broken the one thousand sysop barrier!); I'm thanking you for getting involved, and for this I am very grateful. I hope to be able to serve Wikipedia more effectively with my new tools and that we can continue to build our free encyclopedia, for knowledge is power, but only wisdom is liberty. Please do feel free to get in touch if you feel you can improve me in any way; I will be glad to listen to all comments. Again, thanks 8)             —Xyrael / 11:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

RE: VP 1.3 error 91

Thanks a lot for the help! Unfortunately, I'm running XP Pro. I checked to see if the same logic would apply, but it turns out that I was already running VP1.3 as an administrator. I've since removed the program and am sticking with 1.22 for the meantime. I am getting skewed edit summaries when using it, however. Voice of All suggested switching up my monobook and I'm now using a duplicate of his monobook, but I'm still creating skewed summaries. Any help you could suggest for this would be appreciated, as well. Cheers hoopydinkConas tá tú? 22:33, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Hmm - I see what you mean about the edit summaries - the only thing I can think of is if you have enhanched recent changes enabled (in preferences), it can break VP. Aside from that, I don't know. For the error 91, I've no idea what the problem could be - try running it in compatibility mode with a previous version of XP. That's all I can suggest for that I'm afraid :S. Thanks - Martinp23 22:39, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't have the enchanced recent changes enabled, but thanks for the suggestion! It just happened all of a sudden one day (I've used VP for a while with correct summaries), so hopefully it will just solve itself. Cheers hoopydinkConas tá tú? 22:45, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

What makes those warnings legitimate?? I can also give Chris a warning and impose that he keeps it in his talk page. As you said the warning is kept in the history section.

Do you seriously thing CovenantD rvs had any non ill purpose. He might have a pretext, but you know imposing that comment is mean. You an anyone with common sense. They are both just using technicallities to bother me. You know it, don't pretend otherwise.--The Judge 22:26, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for keeping an eye on the Equality Ride article. I appreciate it. Yes, I agree that all we can do is revert and warn at this point. I don't know how to warn or anything, so I thought I should ask for help. I have a feeling this guy won't give up right away though . . .—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flowingfire (talkcontribs).21:44, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Go raibh maith agat!

Hi there, Martin!

Thank you so much for supporting my RfA! It ended up passing and I'm rather humbled by the support (and a bit surprised that it was snowballed a day early!). Please let me know if I can help you out and I welcome any comments, questions, or advice you wish to share.

Sláinte!

P.S. Your support message on my talk page is just as good as any supporting comment on the RfA. Cheers, mate!

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Firstarticle template

Hi Martinp23, thanks for creating this template! I've used it several times but, because of the automatic heading, it is not possible to preface it with a welcome. What would you think about adding this to the beginning: "Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia." Please let me know what you think. Regards, Accurizer 01:24, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
