[edit] Image:Team McLaren Mercedes logo.GIF

Image deletion warning Image:Team McLaren Mercedes logo.GIF has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. If you feel that this image should not be deleted, please go there to voice your opinion.

Reason: Uploader protested deletion of previous image due to the fact that this is not the ideal format for logo uploads - that being PNG format. Therefore I have changed the format to .png and listed both previous version for deletion. Thanks Mark83 12:34, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Shell logo

Martin - On September 13, you replaced the existing Shell logo of 710x656 pixels with a reduced one of 577x535 pixels? Why did you do that? The reason I ask is, the original I uploaded was a transparent PNG file. The new one is non-transparent. As a result, where this logo is used on infoboxes, there is a horrible white box around the logo. Admittedly, on Internet Explorer there is a horrible white box around both logos, but that's because IE does not support transparent images. I think I will change the image back, unless there are more presssing reasons not to.

By the way, I realise my original image had not been anti-aliased. However, as a logo it is always used reduced, and it is at that point anti-aliasing occurs. I could have uploaded it anti-aliased by using a semi-transparent image, but these are harder to maniulate subsequently, and there did not not seem that much point.

As I say, I think I will restore the original upload. I hate those ugly white boundaries, and I always take some pains to ensure that I upload transparent files where required.

Hmm. I just looked at your recent contributions, and I seem you've been uploading anti-aliased, transparent PNG files. Wikipedia will look much better for it. I will change the Shell logo as some point, but if you feel like replacing it with one of your own transparent files, that would be better still.

Thanks and regards, - Crosbiesmith 10:51, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

I replaced the logo because the quality of the previous logo was bad, you could clearly see large pixels. From now on I almost always make the images I upload transparent. MartinHagberg 18:40, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] cartoons

Showing the figures of Mohammed is disturbing muslims. And it is a insult to Islam. In Islam making and also looking the figures of Mohammed is forbidden. That is raping the holy things of Islam. And it is not about "freedom".Thanks.--Erdemsenol 00:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

I understand that, but let us say that I create a religion that denies/forbids Islam; should Wikipedia remove the article about Islam just to not offend the followers of my fantasy religion? MartinHagberg 14:22, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Team McLaren Mercedes logo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Team McLaren Mercedes logo.png. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Alexj2002 21:02, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
