[edit] Paris

Hey,

Thank you so much for letting me ask these questions. Like I said on Wikitravel, I haven't been to Paris for a long time, and me and a friend of mine plan to go visit. He's relying on me because he's never been, and I barely remember enough French! I'm 21, and my friend's 20, and we're both interested in seeing the usual sights. Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe.. the usual for a first-timer. What I do remember is that the Metro is the only way to get around. I remember buying small books of purple (carnet?) which were useful as they'd let us go anywhere. Do you know anything about these?

Also, my friend is gay, and was generally worried about how he'd be accepted. As far as I remember, Paris is fairly cosmopolitan right? Also I'm looking for any general bits of advice. My biggest worry is finding somewhere to eat and sleep where I won't need much French. I don't mean to be ignorant -- I just don't want to insult anyone! Is there any particular arrondissement/part of Paris that is particularly tourist-friendly?

Thanks again for your time and offering to help! — cuaHL 08:57, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Hey, thanks for replying! As you suggested, I'll ask any further questions on WikiTravel. And now I know the website exists, I'll be quite happy to help contribute in any way when I visit Paris. I'll reply to your post here - [1] - — cuaHL 14:40, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
