[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia
Welcome, newcomer!
Here are some useful tips to ease you into the Wikipedia experience:
- First, take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial, and perhaps dabble a bit in the test area.
- When you have some free time, take a look at the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines. They can come in very handy!
- Remember to use a neutral point of view!
- If you need any help, feel free to post a question at the Help Desk
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Also, here are some odds and ends that I find useful from time to time:
- Wikipedia:Policy Library
- Wikipedia:Utilities
- Wikipedia:Cite your sources
- Wikipedia:Verifiability
- Wikipedia:Wikiquette
- Wikipedia:Civility
- Wikipedia:Conflict resolution
- Wikipedia:Brilliant prose
- Wikipedia:Pages needing attention
- Wikipedia:Peer review
- Wikipedia:Bad jokes and other deleted nonsense
- Wikipedia:Village pump
- Wikipedia:Boilerplate text
Feel free to ask me anything the links and talk pages don't answer. You can most easily reach me by posting on my talk page.
You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes, likes this: ~~~~.
Best of luck, and have fun!

[edit] Metal Sonic picture
Howdy! I'd like to thank you for putting that picture on the Metal Sonic article. All articles should have a good picutre. ^_^ However, I'm curious about its actual source... the info on the picutre just says the copyright holder lets anyone use it for any purpose... well, if that's an official Sega picture, I'd think that would more of a {{fairuse}} case, and if it's a fan picture... well, I don't think we should really have fan pictures here on Wikipedia, no matter how cool they are. If you could clarify this, that would be great. ^_^ And by the way – I'd like to give you a warm welcome to the Wikipedia as well. We could always use more good editors! ^_^ --Sparky the Seventh Chaos 18:52, Nov 7, 2004 (UTC)
- You can edit pictures' copyright notices just like you can edit articles. Just get to the picture's page (easiest way, for me, is to just click on it in the article) and edit it to put this boilerplate into it: {{fairuse}}. Easy as pie. : )
- Do you have any idea where the picture came from, besides Google? I mean, was it originally, say, in the instruction manual of Sonic Heroes or something? I'm just curious.
- By the way, you might want to get into the habit of signing any comment on Talk pages. It just makes it easier to tell who said what. ^_^ --Sparky the Seventh Chaos 22:29, Nov 7, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Neuron.jpg
You uploaded Image:Neuron.jpg, and it looks from the history like you gave it {{unknown}} as the initial description. Please don't do this. That tag is supposed to be added later as a cleanup step to images where the uploader neglected to give a source. If you yourself don't know what the source is, you really shouldn't upload the image to Wikipedia in the first place. The file seems to be a copy of [1] even if the original source is unknown so I've marked it as a copyright violation (lifting an entire figure is probably not fair use). [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sonic1.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Sonic1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 22:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
