[edit] About me
I've been a Wikipedian since January 2005, editing actively since April 2005. Recently, I've been more involved with dispute resolution than anything else, becoming a member of the Mediation Commitee. I also help out with the OTRS system, so you might see me doing strange things with OTRS mentioned in my edit summary - feel free to ask me to clarify! I'm also heavily involved with programming for Wikipedia, writng bots and NPWatcher, and gaining a strong knowledge of C# in the process. I also try to involve myself with recent changes patrol, but am falling behind! Feel free to ask me for help with anything!
[edit] Wiki-Philosophy
It is important to encourage new contributors, however many of their first contributions are quickly deleted, causing those user to refuse to edit WP again. When anybody marks a page for deletion which is a contributor's first new page, they should put a note on that user's page telling them why. I didn't want to write this all the time, so I made a template: Template:Firstarticle.
Recently, I had a very wikiphilosophical discuaaion with another user (Royalguard11) about apparent phobiacruft, and the associated cruftphobia which some editors seem to be afflicted with (take a look at AfD if you don't believe me). While I don't disagree that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, I think that some people do take it a tip-toe too far, screaming "CRUFT" at every other article, rather than using some other word (???). As for phobiacruft - there goes not a day by when a phobia article comes up on AfD as "wordcruft" - but I feel that "phobiacruft" is far more appropriate a term, so I said it :) (but I'm not a hypocrite :P - cruft is still a bad word Template:Emot). That is all.....
