[edit] My saved bits

I like to think that WP is a hivemind, and individual users don't matter. If you're used up, WP tosses you away. You will think that the system is flawed, but WP in reality has sucked your energy into itself, and continues to thrive. I don't know if this is really a consolation, and it assumes that there is an endless supply of fresh drones. dab (ᛏ) 13:45, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC) at WP:AN

Ha, I've even been the subject of a Wikifun question: Round 6, Question 2 (here's the answer). — mark 3 July 2005 20:10 (UTC)

One of my favourite edits was made by Nigeriamajor, and it was this one. Not only that, he even created Mark Dingemanse. (talk contribs).

Xenonym Ethnonym Autonym Glossonym Toponym Autoglossonym

In ethnology and linguistics, autonym (from auto 'self' and nym 'name') is a term used to denote the name people use to refer to themselves.

In ethnology and linguistics, xenonym (from xeno 'other' and nym 'name') is a term used to denote the name given to a people by others. Peoples can have several xenonyms. The Elmolo (self-applied ethnonym Gurapua), for example were referred to as Lldes, Dehes, Hereny, and Ngimoile by the Samburu, Rendille, Dasenech and Turkana, respectively.

[edit] Web resources for African languages

Once in a while I mail a list of reasonably complete African language articles to Jouni Filip Maho, who maintains the Web resources for African languages. In this place I record which ones were added upon suggestion (and which suggestions were turned down). There are a lot of excellent articles by Mustafaa here.
