Marc Abel was born during the Nixon administration. He resided near Boston until 1980, in central Ohio until 1987, in Pasadena, California until 1993, central Ohio again until 2004, and now lives with the 27th Fighter Wing where his wife is stationed. He has worked in numerous engineering and information technology disciplines, as a classically trained singer, and taught more than 5,000 students as a substitute teacher in 78 schools.

When not busy with family and housework, Mr. Abel volunteers his remaining time by writing and editing on various topics, conducts projects related to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, writes code and documentation for open source software, and is involved in church, military, and community activities.
