Talk:Margo Jones
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Jones envisioned Theatre 47 as a place where actors, writers, and theatre technicians could have a steady job and not be subject to the volatility of the New York scene." The irony of this statement is that today virtually all "residential" theatres hire theatre professionals out of New York or similar out-of-town markets. This practice can only create more volatility for professional theatre practitioners. Did Jones intend her resident theatre artists to in fact be full-time residents of Dallas or did she participate in hiring actors from out of town for limited periods of time?
