[edit] Wine region
A careful reading of related articles shows that the term Leeuwin-Naturaliste is for the national park - and the geographical region - as a consequence it relates to the leeuwin naturaliste ridge on which the wine industry exists. To change titles of sections for an alternative 'popular name' is fine - as long as there is adequate reference to the more technical name - alternate names should be included in articles rather than deleting.... - Actually, "Margaret River" is the name of a Wine region, one of the levels of "Australian Geographical Indicator" under the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Act 1980. To cut through all the technical crap: the same legal treaties that prevent us calling a sparkling wine "Champagne" unless it was made in Champagne, France, also afford protection to other wine growing regions; in the case of Margaret River, the region has named itself "Margaret River", and is afforded legal protection under that name. Therefore I think that "Margaret River" is a more appropriate section title. Hesperian 10:56, 13 December 2006 (UTC).

- Well I've just read this discussion after adding and changing a few things in the article. Revert me if I'm off the track. —Moondyne 14:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
I wonder if this situation is the same as a wine region/town in SA; we have McLaren Vale (famous wine region), and then we have McLaren Vale, South Australia (less known township in the region).--cj | talk 21:04, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, exactly the same I'd say. Its just that you Croweaters have managed a separate article for the wine region. Here, the article serves several purposes with redirects: The town, the river and the wine region. —Moondyne 23:21, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

- (btw Cj, hesp,. moondyne and I were at the perth meetup last night imbibing (not wine)), It would be only fair to say that this area needs lots of work and ultimately if enough goes in to the article there is the potential for sep articles - but for the moment - moondyne didnt mention local government area, and surfing region - see hesperians start at regionalisations of australia to see how we (as we have talked about this subject on and off wiki a few times) are trying to cope with the subject... hic...
