Maryam Jameelah

Maryam (or Maryum) Jameelah is born Margaret Marcus, was a Reform Jewish woman who converted to Islam in the early 1960s. Marcus is the author of over two-dozen books on Islam. Her name literally means "Mary the Beautiful" in Arabic. She was highly influenced by the thoughts of Mawdudi, a Muslim thinker of Indian sub-continent. After embracing Islam she chose Pakistan to stay there.


It was on the 5th of December 1960 she penned her first letter to Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi after reading his convincing article Life after Death which was appeared in the February 1960 issue of The Muslim Digest of Durban, South Africa.
