Mary McHenry

Mary McHenry (Mary Williamson) (January 23, 1933) is "credited with bringing African American literature to Mount Holyoke College," where she is Emeritus Professor of English [1].
McHenry received her B.A. in 1954 in English literature from Mount Holyoke College. She taught at Mount Holyoke from 1974 to 1998. Her daughter, Elizabeth McHenry, is a professor of African American studies at New York University.
McHenry's former Mount Holyoke student, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks, would later credit McHenry with her success. [2].
