MaryAnn Johanson is a film critic whose reviews are characterised by a casual but literate style. Her website, The Flick Filosopher, maintains an archive of all her reviews as well as her film-related articles, and has been itself reviewed by Time and Variety. Her reviews also appear in a number of alternative weekly newspaper, including Salt Lake City Weekly, Charleston City Paper, Ace Weekly, and others. She is a contributing blogger on film, TV, and DVD at Film.com, she writes about Generation X and geek culture at Geek Philosophy, and she is a founding member of Cinemarati, a guide for online film critics.

Her first book, The Totally Geeky Guide to The Princess Bride, was published in August 2006.
