Martinelli's

Martinelli's is the brand name of S. Martinelli & Company, a juice company based in Watsonville, California. Martinelli's is best known for its non-alcoholic sparkling cider and its apple juice and distinct, patented "Martinelli's Golden Apple" bottle design. Their cider, despite the name, is non-alcoholic, and both their cider and apple juice are made entirely with real juice; its products are not from concentrate and do not contain corn syrup or other artificial ingredients common to many juice products.
The labelling of the company's products as "cider" and "apple juice" is somewhat arbitrary, as the two terms are interchangeable in North America, although regional preferences exist for one or the other. Originally, their advertisements (especially around the Prohibition era) advertised their "non-alcoholic cider", but over time it simply became known as "sparkling cider". The company's juice is often touted as "Gold Medal" because, according to their website, their products have won "over 50 gold medals for excellence".
Although chiefly known for their cider and apple juice, Martinelli's sells a range of other juice as well. Among their products are Sparkling Apple-Cranberry, Sparkling Apple-Grape, Sparkling Apple-Marionberry, Sparking Apple-Pomegranate and fruit blends. The company also offers their apple juice in many varieties such as unfiltered and organic as well as cider. The Golden Apple bottle was first introduced in the 1920's as a apple-shaped glass jug, it is available in 10 oz. individual-serving size. A plastic version was introduced in 2006. The champagne-style bottle is most often seen around holidays such as New Year's Eve, as it is consumed by both adults and children as a Champagne substitute. In fact, the sparkling cider was touted during Prohibition as an alternative to alcohol.
The company has operated out of Pajaro Valley, California since 1868. All Martinelli's products have been certified as kosher by the Kosher Supervision of America. One of Martinelli's best-known slogans is "Drink your apple a day", which refers to the proverb, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away."
