Martin O'Donnell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Martin O'Donnell (Also known as "Marty") is an American musical composer who is well known for his work on musical pieces for video games from Bungie Studios such as the Myth series, Oni, and the Halo trilogy. Before joining Microsoft, O'Donnell frequently collaborated with his musical companion Michael Salvatori for many of the scores. He has also been directing voice talent and creating sound design for the Halo trilogy [[1]].
He has been married for 26 years with his wife, Marcie, and had two daughters, Alison, and Christine, who apparently were a part of the singing children's choir for the Flintstones Vitamins commercials, which Marty wrote, along with the Mr. Clean jingle.
His most recent piece of music was highlighted in the E3 2006 teaser trailer to Halo 3, where he used a 60-piece orchestra and a 24-piece choir for the score, which was performed by Northwest Sinfonia, the same orchestra used for Halo 2.
[edit] Trivia
A type of frog in the PC game Riven, called a "Ytram," is named after O'Donnell ("Marty" spelled backwards). [2]
