Martin O'Doherty (born 1952) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with Cork in the 1970s.

A member of the famous Glen Rovers club in Cork City, Martin O'Doherty was one of the great players of the Cork hurling team in the 1970s. He lined out at centre-back in two All-Ireland minor winning sides in 1969 and 1970, before making the swift transition to the under-21 side the following year, when he made it three All-Ireland medals in three years for the first time in his career. Two years later, in 1973, O'Doherty captained the Cork Under-21s to All-Ireland victory and claimed another winners medal. He also won Under-21 medals in Gaelic football with Cork and made it onto the senior panel, however, he soon decided to concentrate on hurling, where he played on one of the greatest teams of all time.

As well as winning numerous Munster Championships O'Doherty was a key member of the defence when Cork won three All-Ireland Championships in-a-row in 1976, 1977 (when O'Doherty was captain) and 1978. O’Doherty’s emigrated to the United States in 1979, however, he continued to play for Cork, making the Atlantic crossing on several occasions until he finally retired from hurling in 1982. As well as winning many medals with Cork he also won 2 County Championships, in 1972 and 1976 with his local club Glen Rovers. On both occasions, the club went on to claim the All-Ireland club crown. O’Doherty’s other accolades include three All Star awards, a National Hurling League and a Railway Cup.
