Martin Morgan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Martin Morgan was formerly a Northern Irish politician for the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP).
He was a councillor on Belfast City Council who stood for the party in the 2004 European Parliament elections. He was the youngest ever Belfast councillor when first elected.
He was heavily criticised for going against SDLP party policy by questioning the party's support for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). This occurred when the PSNI was accused of using heavy handed policing to force an Orange Order parade through the mainly Catholic Ardoyne area of North Belfast. Morgan has since resigned from the party, and is understood to be interested in running as a Fianna Fáil candidate should they organise in Northern Ireland.
He writes a column in the Belfast newspaper North Belfast News.
