Martin Dibelius
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Martin Dibelius (born September 14, 1883 in Dresden; died November 11, 1947 in Heidelberg) was German theologian and a professor for the New Testament at the University of Heidelberg. With Rudolf Bultmann, he helped define a period in research into the historical Jesus noted for skepticism toward the possibility of describing Jesus with historical authority. He portrayed Jesus' Sermon on the Mount as reflecting ideals that are impossible to live up to in this fallen world.
