[edit] Trivia
An experienced multi-instrumentalist, Martin started out playing bass guitar with funk-rock band Some Have Wings in Blackburn in the mid 1990's, including a performance at the Greenbelt festival in 1997. He then moved on to touring with Lancashire Queen tribute act Gallileo, before hanging up his bass and concentrating on solo work and the fledgling Voyager Project.
Martin recorded two limited-release solo albums, Hearts On Fire in October 1994 and Time To Choose in April 2003, the latter featuring fellow Voyager Project members Edwin Li, Rob Ogden and his wife Eva Cliffe. It is also the first recorded instance of him playing drums.
In October 2001, Martin co-founded The Timber Merchants, and continues to play with them to this day; usually on guitar but occasionally playing drums. Although the band are now spread across the UK, they continue to get together a few times a year for private shows. In December 2006, he also helped found Cruel Earth, playing heavier music than with any of his previous bands.
He married Eva in July 2002, and currently lives in Staffordshire. Apart from his musical ventures, he is a steward and worship leader at his local Methodist church, and works as Network Manager at Painsley Catholic College. His future plans include opening a commercial recording studio (Mandec Studios) and becoming a full-time professional musician.
