Marsworth

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marsworth is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located about two miles north of Tring, in Hertfordshire and six miles east of Aylesbury.

The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'Mæssa's enclosure'. It was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Missevorde though earlier (in the Tenth century) it had been referred to as Mæssanwyrth.

The construction of the Grand Union Canal which passes through this village brought with it many new business opportunities and the village expanded greatly as a result.
