Marshall Kilpatric

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marshall Kilpatric is the drummer and percussionist for Lawrence, Kansas-based band The Esoteric.

Kilpatric joined The Esoteric in April of 2003 when former drummer Adam 'Hammerlord' Mitchell backed out of a tour with only a week to spare. Kilpatric was on his way home to Denver, Colorado when former bandmate and current vocalist for The Esoteric, Stevie Cruz phoned him to join up for the tour. He learned the material and was performing with the band in a matter of days.

Marshall is an accomplished musician, having been a member of several bands, including noise rock veterans Today Is The Day and the Witchita, Kansas-based thrashers Dead Orchestra in addition to performing in several musical projects such as Noisome Groove and New Hours of Operation (both with current bandmate Cruz).

Kilpatric's unusual percussive style has led to endorsements from several major equipment companies, including Evans Drum Heads, C&C Custom Drums, Pro-Mark Drum Sticks and Sabian Cymbals as shown in the liner notes of The Esoteric's releases.

Recently, Kilpatric joined the band Black Light Burns in the spot of drummer. The band is fronted by Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit, Big Dumb Face, Goatslayer). Kilpatric was not present in the production of the album, Cruel Melody, but he was brought in to act as drummer during the live show.
