Mars Defense Perimeter

The Mars Defense Perimeter is obliterated by the Borg.
In Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Mars Defense Perimeter is a system of permanent defenses stationed near Mars orbit, intended to protect Earth from invasion or attack. It appears in the episode "The Best of Both Worlds".
The Perimeter was utterly obliterated by the Borg in 2367, a feat which proved surprisingly easy, as the Mars Defense Perimeter apparently consists of three small, slow ships which were blown to dust before firing a single shot.
Since then, the MDP has become an inside joke amongst Star Trek fans, who mostly understand that the pitiful defense it put up was due to the episode's budget constraints.
