[edit] Personal Background

Dr. Sloane was born and raised in Fresno, California as Susan Melkonian, and is of Armenian descent. Because her family did not believe that education was important for girls[1], she fought with her parents for permission to attend college. She perservered, and eventually obtained her doctrate in Psychology[2].

[edit] Armenian Activism

In 2005, Dr. Sloane relocated her practice to the San Francisco area and founded the Armenian History and Awareness Foundation, a non profit organization to preserve Armenian history and culture through literature, film, education and public awareness. It is her passion to bring stories of human courage and valor into the public mind. Her current project in pursuing that goal is a book on the Armenian Genocide which she hopes will have mass appeal.

[edit] Professional Career

A registered and certified clinical hypnotherapist, Dr. Sloane lectures about removing labels and stigmas that act as "masks" which can limit human potential[3]. Her life-long interest in the power of mind led her to become a hypnotherapist and study psychology. She has written numerous articles on how to find one's "authentic self", and the importance of "living in truth"[4].
