Mark Richard is an American Short story writer and poet. He is from Virginia. His first book, The Ice at the Bottom of the World: Stories (a collection of short stories), won the 1989 PEN/Ernest Hemingway Foundation Award. He published the books Fishboy: A Ghost's Story in 1993 (ISBN 0-385-42568-6) and Charity (ISBN 0-385-42570-8) in 1997, and appeared in Sudden Fiction (Continued) (60 New Short-Short Stories).
Mark Richard On the Rope appears in Volume Two of The Quarterly, which was published in the Summer of 1987 with editor Gordon Lish.
