Mark McGuinn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mark McGuinn is a country musician and songwriter. A native of North Carolina, he was born in Greensboro. He is known for his unique look, featuring a goatee and glasses, as well as for his unique sound and songs. He has seven years of training as a jazz trumpeter, and was looking to become professional soccer player before a devastating knee injury ruined those aspirations. After his injury, he signed with VFR Records, an independent record label, and on May 8, 2001, released his debut, self-titled record.

His first country single was "Mrs. Steven Rudy", which reached the Top 10. The follow-ups weren't quite as successful, however. His career had just begun when VFR Records went bankrupt. McGuinn was caught up in the ensuing legal battle, and was not able to release any new music for several years. During this time, though, he wrote the song "Unusually Unusual" for the country group Lonestar, which reached #12 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs.

However, in 2005, McGuinn and his friend and fellow songwriter Jim Foster started their own record company, and named it Blue Flamingo Records. Under this label, he has released another record, "One Man's Crazy", which is a blend of country, jazz, pop, and rock. This album features the single "More Beautiful Day".
