Mark L. Prophet

Marcus Lyle Prophet was an American born December 24, 1918 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He died February 26, 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He married his first wife Phyllis (?) and fathered 5 children with her.
He founded The Summit Lighthouse, predecessor to the Church Universal and Triumphant, on August 7, 1957 in Washington D.C..
In 1961, he met and married Elizabeth Clare Wulf, who became Elizabeth Clare Prophet. They had 4 children.
Upon the death of Mark Prophet, his widow Elizabeth changed the name of the organization to Church Universal and Triumphant, and built the new church into a worldwide movement which continues to the present day.
