Mark Chung (musician)

Mark Chung (born June 3, 1957 in Leeds, England) is a German musician and music publisher, probably best known for his work with a German music group Einstürzende Neubauten.

Since 1980, Chung was a member of the legendary German Punk band Abwärts from (Hamburg, Germany) and can be heard e.g. on their greatest hit "Computerstaat".

In the early 1980s, he joined Einstürzende Neubauten as their bass player and a sort of financial chief of the band. After the recordings for the album Faustmusik in the middle 1990s he left the band and made a career in the music industry:

Chung formed a publishing house called "Freibank Music Publishing" back in 1984, primarily for controlling and administrating the copyrights of Einstürzende Neubauten, but Freibank Music Publishing offered this service also to related musicians and steadily grew. In the middle of the 1990es Chung moved to London, where he continued his work with Freibank and also became senior vice-president of Sony Music International. After 9 years of working for Sony Music, he moved back to Germany and now directs the Freibank office in Berlin.
