The Marist Brothers of the Schools were founded in 1817 rural France by Saint Marcellin Champagnat in order to provide a quality education and make Jesus known and loved to those among him. Blessed with his founding spirit, the Marist Brothers continue to bring this time-honored tradition and mission to students around the world. On September 9, 1963, the doors of Marist High School opened with 320 young men enrolled as the charter class. At the end of the 1990s the school was forced to change it's name from the Redskins to the Redhawks. In fall of 2002, Marist entered a new beginning in its history as it became a coeducational school. The full transition to coed was completed in the 2005-2006 academic year.

Known more for education than sports, Marist has had several State title wins and appearances. Wrestling - State Champs 1983,1987, 2nd place 1997. Football -2nd place 1987. Baseball -State Champs 1978. Volleyball -State Champs 2002. Hockey -1992,1994 2nd place.

The Campaign for Time and Eternity: Marist High School's plan for the $4.5 million comprehensive fundraising campaign was launched on May 14, 2003. The Campaign for Time and Eternity is the culmination of a strategic planning process which identified major goals for Marist, including strengthening the financial foundation of the school and ensuring that the needs of the students, both current and future, will continue to be met. As the most ambitious fundraising initiative in over two decades, the five-year plan is organized into three capital phases with work to begin when pre-determined levels of support are reached, and an overlapping endowment phase.

The objectives of Phase I were to complete renovations to the library and cafeteria. The McGowan Academic Resource Center, which was made possible through the generosity of Mr. Edward McGowan, a friend of Marist, in memory of his late wife and son, Jacqueline and James, offers students state of the art library resources and a college prep atmosphere. The success of the facility is evident by the hundreds of students that daily visit the new resource center. The resource center includes 60 desktop computers and 24 wireless internet laptops. There is a computer workroom specifically for movie making and presentations. Students can also borrow digital cameras for photos or videos.

Funds collected during the 2006-06 fiscal year were used to further enhance the physical campus at Marist High School. The foundation of the William J. Zidek Tennis Courts has slowly settled, causing cracks in the base of the courts. Therefore, the current courts werereplaced with five new courts and ewre ready for play in the Fall of 2006.

The final phase of the campaign focuses again on the physical look of Marist's 55 acre campus and the increasing needs of our student body, which now numbers 1,830 young men and women. Over the years, Marist's athletics programs have flourished, bringing "honor and glory and fame" Marist.. In order to allow teams to practice and compete at their peak, the school needs to provide adequate space for them. Currently there are 24 athletic programs at Marist, with many of those teams competing at two or three levels (freshman, sophomore and varsity). Scheduling adequate practice time, coordinating tournaments and games, as well as allowing for other special events has become increasingly difficult with only the small and main gyms available. Therefore, a new student activities center will be added, which will include a regulation size court and seating for 300. This third space will also allow Marist to rebuild its intramurals, giving more students the chance to be involved in athletics and to stay physically fit. (Current Phase)

Throughout the campaign, the Development Office is focusing its efforts on adding over $1 million to the existing endowment program. These endowments ensure long term financial security for the school and benefit both current and future faculty and students. The endowments included in the campaign will benefit the financial assistance program, technology and faculty development.
